Partner AgencyThe Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is a critical resource to more than 800 emergency food and social service programs in 34 counties of central and eastern North Carolina. As a partner agency of the Food Bank, these organizations can stretch their food dollars to meet the needs of the community.

Our partner agencies have access to fresh produce, canned meals, baby food, frozen products, beverages, and essential non-food items such as personal hygiene items and paper products.

We encourage qualifying organizations to join the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina's Partner Agency network.


2019 Update: 

Thank you for your interest in joining our no one goes hungry mission. We are currently revamping our recruitment and on-boarding process so that we can better serve our partners and communities in the future. We are not currently accepting new applications for partnership at this point in time but will begin again shortly in 2020. Starting in January 2020, all organizations interested in partnering with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina will be asked to attend an Open House to learn more about what partnering together looks like and how we can work alongside one another to best serve those in need in our communities. Requirements for Partnership

To join the Food Bank Partner Agency network, your organization must meet certain guidelines:

  • Organization must be located in the 34 county service territory of the Food Bank. These counties include Brunswick, Carteret, Chatham, Columbus, Craven, Duplin, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Greene, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Jones, Lee, Lenoir, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Onslow, Orange, Pamlico, Pender, Person, Pitt, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, or Wilson Counties.

    Additionally, we share service territory with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina located in Fayetteville. The shared counties are Duplin, Harnett and Sampson. Agencies may only be members of one food bank.

  • Organizations must be non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) or equivalent. One of the following documents is required:
    • 501(c)(3) determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service. How to apply for 501(c)(3)status »
    • Churches part of a larger body: A copy of a current letter, written on organizational letterhead stationery, from the governing church body (i.e., Baptist State Convention) documenting its exempt status and the church’s membership in that organization.
    • Independent Churches: Completion of the "Documentation List for Independent Churches" form.

  • Organizations must have a building or room to store Food Bank products. View the Storage Requirements »

  • Organizations must serve the ill, needy or infants (children under the age of 18.)

  • If the program charges a fee for it services (day care center, group home, etc.), you must show that at least 50% of the clients are in need. Documentation can include: a combination of DSS sponsorships, need-based scholarships or participants that pay on a sliding scale.
    Note: Organizations may not charge a fee for food it receives from the Food Bank.

To avoid duplication of services, the Food Bank partners with agencies based on location, type and community need.

Application Process

After the Partner Agency Application is submitted, along with the signed Partnership Agreement and documentation of the agency’s 501(c)(3) or equivalent status, the following process is activated:

  • A Food Bank Agency Services Representative reviews the application for proper documentation and determines if the program guidelines are met.

  • If qualifications are met, the Agency Services Representative sets up a site visit. (Initial site visits are typically booked approximately one month after receipt of application.) The visit will include:
    • Review of the agency's guidelines for serving food as stated in the application.
    • Inspection of food storage areas to insure that Food Bank specifications are met. (If specifications are not met, the agency is granted up to three months to set up appropriate storage space.)
    • Review of the Food Bank rules, regulations, and record keeping requirements with the appropriate agency staff.
    If an agency does not meet the requirements for partnership, the director will be notified in writing.

  • Following a successful site visit, an Orientation Session will be arranged. The orientation includes:
    • Review of warehouse rules and regulations, delivery program information, and record-keeping requirements.
    • A tour of the warehouse and shopping areas.
    • Shopping cards will be issued. (Up to three cards per agency.)

Food Bank Partner Agencies range from small volunteer-based food pantries to large relief organizations service multiple communities. Partner agencies include food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and group homes.
